Below are our Ministry Teams and a short description of the role each team plays in fulfilling the mission of Bethany Lutheran Church. If you have discerned that God is calling you to serve in with any of these teams please contact the church office and our Ministry Coordinator will contact you.
The Altar Ministry team looks to the parament in the chancel and the prayer Chapel. They keep the chancel in the color of the church season. They also keep the prayer chapel clean and ready for use by our congregation and visitors.
Our members in the Communion Ministry prepare the altar and side tables for communion each week. These members are preparing us to meet the Lord in He Sacrificial Meal, the pinnacle of the Divine Service.
We understand that life can be difficult and painful at times. For those members who can no longer leave home, or are in a care facility, our Home Communion Teams assist the pastor in taking the Holy Sacrament to share with them and to enjoy some time in the fellowship we have as the Body of Christ.
We have a greeting card ministry where members volunteer to send birthday, anniversary, and other cards to members and their families.
Our lay readers assist in the worship service with reading the scripture lessons for the day and praying the prayers of the church. It is a blessing to have members who assist in leading the worship service.
Members participate in the worship service assisting in the distribution of the blessed sacrament of Holy Communion. Those who assist distribute the Blood of Christ using the pouring chalices
Ushers help by greeting and preparing the congregation for worship. They are the first smiling faces members and visitors see, they provide worshippers with the days bulletin, present the tithes and offerings, and direct people to the chancel rail to receive communion.
Each week members provide the altar flowers that beautify our worship . Following worship those who provide the flowers can take them home or members of the congregation will take these flowers and deliver them to our homebound members.
Every evening members of the congregation walk the church grounds and the building to secure the doors and windows, checks for lights, and look for any other issues. These members faithfully take a week at a time to be on "Lock-Up, " looking to the safety of the church and it's members.
The Women of Bethany make and deliver or mail care packages to our Homebound and our college students. They also serve meals following a funeral service as a ministry to the family. In the Spring and Fall the Women of Bethany hold banquets for the congregation that are themes with presentations.
The Helping Hands Ministry is a group of many, and talented, individuals who volunteer their time and talents to serve others who are in need. We recognize that some members of the congregation may need help with household tasks, simple repairs, and transportation. Some volunteers are also able to relieve caregivers for short periods of time to allow the caregiver to leave to run errands and have some time to relax.
